BTC has increased mailing fees

BTC has increased mailing fees.  While SATT doesn’t like it, BTC has a monopoly, and we are puppets on a string.  However, what concerns me is the cost when neighborhood councils ask for 500-foot radius mailings.

Please sign on and let SATT know if this is an issue for you, and SATT will explore what can be done to change it.

  1. I am concerned at the very significant increase in rates proposed for notification by BTC. These kinds of costs can render it impossible for a community organization to meet noticing requirements when appealing a project.

It may also cause a project representative to balk at providing extended notification to a larger field of neighbors due to the cost involved.

I question the exclusive relationship between BTC and the City / Planning Dept. and wonder if it is possible to suggest that this posting and noticing task be written up in an RFP to identify other firms that may be interested in providing the services offered at a lower cost. How did this company come to have an exclusive relationship with the City and can that relationship be challenged? With all of the advances with computerization and data management, there should not be such a large increase in mailing/label costs.
